Site Policies and Guidelines

Here are some overall polices and guidelines for the site. Other sections follow that address specific guidelines for the major sections of the wiki.

Changing Content

  • There is no need to contact the original submitter of information on the wiki to make grammatical or consistency changes.
  • If you think a fundamental change is needed to some information on the wiki, please contact the original author or start a forum discussion about it for that particular page by clicking on the discussions tab.
  • Feel free to always add information to a page without any permission...that's what a wiki is all about.
  • Although the main editor is very helpful, you'll need to use the source-level text editor to make changes sometimes...for example, deleting empty tables. Don't worry about screwing anything up. You can always revert back to the previous version if something goes wrong.
  • If somone is already working on a page, you won't be locked out, but you will get a warning. Do not work on a page that someone already has open...lost data will most likely occur. This should not be a big problem except for index pages that everyone may need to update. You can always contact the person who has the file open to see when they plan to finish.

Copyrights, Permissions, and Acknowledgements

  • Do not reproduce copyrighted material from official Savage Worlds products. Providing a one-line description and a referring link is acceptable, but you should seek permission from the author. See the Ahuizoti entry on the Monsters and Mooks page for an example.
  • Do not reproduce material from unofficial Savage Worlds products unless you get permission from the author. See the Acolyte page for an example.
  • For Savage Worlds conversions from other sources (such as Deadlands and D&D), provide acknowledgements from the original source. See the Husker page for an example.

Grammar and Consistency

  • Put all book titles and any other titles in italics.
  • Unlike some wikis, there are no special conventions for each file name. For consistency and readability, make all file names the same as the title of the page. For example, if the title of a page is "Red Dragon," make the page's file name "Red Dragon".

Monster and Mooks Guidelines

  • When creating a new monster page, please start with the Monster and Mooks template. After you click on the New Page link, add a title for the page and choose MonsterandMooks for the template.
  • Do not feel like you have to follow the template religiously. The template is there to help you quickly add information and to promote a basic consistency.
  • If you want to add a monster that is fundamentally different than an existing monster (and you want to use the same name), add a new page with a number. For example, if you have a new version of a Mummy, but there is already a Mummy page, you could add a new page called "Mummy (2)". Another approach is to create a new name for the Monster you've created.
  • Permissions and Right of Use: (1) Paul "Wiggy" Wade-Williams has given the wiki community permissions to list the monsters in his toolkits with a one-line description and pointer to the appropriate toolkit. (2) Butch Curry has given the wiki community permissions to add the actual content from his Savage Beasts documents into the wiki.
