Like gryphons, keythongs have the body of a lion and the head and forelegs of an eagle, but the lack the wings. In some settings, keythongs are actually male gryphons, and only the females have wings. Keythongs have a pair of long straight horns jutting from its head, and their backs are covered in a multitude of vicious spikes.

  • Size +4: Keythongs are shaped like lions, but are considerably larger.
  • Large: Attackers are +2 to attack due to the keythong's size.
  • Improved Frenzy: Keythongs can make two Fighting attacks per round without MAP.
  • Maul: With a successful Grapple attack, the keythongknocks its target prone and pins it to the ground. It can immediately make another Fighting attack (without MAP). Until the target manages to free itself, the keythonggains a +2 bonus to all attacks against it.
  • Spikes: Due to the vicious spikes covering its body, careless attacks against a keythong are likely to result in serious injuries to the attacker. Any creature making a Bite or Grapple attack against the keythong's torso suffers Damage equal to its own Str+2; AP4; This counts as a Heavy Weapon.
  • Scoop: When a keythong attacks with its horns and gets a Raise on the attack roll, it has scooped the target off the ground and lets it drop onto its spiked back. This causes 2d6+2 damage; AP4; Heavy Weapon.
